My Story

My wife was first diagnosed with uterine cancer. That’s the bad news. The good news is a hysterectomy took the problem away and no further treatment has been required. She has now completed 5 years without a recurrence! Praise God!
Now it was my turn!
A bloody rear end every time I had a bowel movement sent me to several doctors over many years. They all concurred I probably had an internal hernia but no one suggested a colonoscopic confirmation.
A routine stress test for arm discomfort sidetracked the bloody issue as I was then diagnosed with atherosclerosis and 70% coronary artery blockage. The quick decision was made for a quintuple coronary bypass successfully completed in 2005. I still complained about the bloody stool but no one was listening. My family doctor finally agreed I should have a colonoscopy which revealed the colonic tumor nearly blocking the canal. Again; that was the bad news; for the resection operation removing 10 inches of cancerous colon successfully pronounced me cancer-free! As the cancer was stage 3 with three lymph nodes involved the oncologist recommended 9 months of precautionary chemotherapy consisting of leucovorin; oxaliplatin and flourouricil; completed June 2007. Blood tests have confirmed no trace of new cancer.
The pathology report indicated the tumor was within a 32nd of an inch of becoming stage four at three different areas of it’s growth history.
Do you see a pattern here? The number three is scripturally holy designating completion!
While recovering from the heart bypass I received spiritual confirmation God was watching over me. I was told this is not unusual for heart patients. If I doubted that message then I don’t doubt it now!
I am still in recovery mode but considering what I have been through I feel my journey has been necessary to learn a few things about God! I am sharing this to let everyone who reads it know that God continues to perform miracles for the rest of my life is one of them!
